April 4th was CCRI day at the state house. Myself, Chris Allen, Thomas Aubee, and Club Secretary Maria Rodriguez set up a table for CCRI day and gave demonstrations on how to crack a password and showed off a live map of cyber attacks in real time.
Among other things, we got to meet the governor briefly, who has been pushing for better Cybersecurity opportunities at Rhode Island College among other things. He also said that he loves how people of different backgrounds all come together around CCRI and in general in Rhode Island.
Professor Mike Kelly also had a table to teach more about our cybersecurity program in general, whereas we spent more of our time focused on the club. Between our and Kelly’s efforts, as of April 4th, we are sitting at 90 signups for cybersecurity night, which, as stated on our homepage, is May 1st. We expect there to be more soon too.
This was a wonderful event to be a part of. And I hope to participate in it next year if I’m still a student. It was a great event to begin a rather busy next two months of cyber events.
